okay guys, here it is. the long awaited black and white contribution to the site that we all know and love...illustration friday. i finished this one up last nite around 10.30 and boy am i proud of the outcome. it came out better than the original sketch, which is a rarity. i like it soo much its up there with my other fave pieces that ive done in the past. you guys gotta let me know what you think, and im sure you will. oh by the way, there was a bit of inspiration behind this piece, besides the ever obvious topic of black and white. cheryl would be proud to know that i have had the lyrics to one of her fave songs by her fave band for a while and i finally decided to use them as an art piece. the song is...drum roll please. The beauty of gray by her boys Live. i went and saw them last year, and i was lucky enough to hear them play this song. it quickly became one of those songs i cant stop listening to and im glad i could use it to create a piece of art, and not to mention a piece that fit the illofriday topic perfectly. you can check out the lyrics of the song here!....you should read em, they are pritty inspiring. also, i realized there was another song that i love to blast from my car stereo that would also fit this topic. that song is The gray race from one of my fave bands Bad Religion. check out those lyrics here! so thats that. not only am i proud of my new masterpiece, but i found the perfect idea that fits the topic, and im early!!!! man its only wednesday and im done. this could be an illofriday record for chacha. well back to work now. enjoy!

The beauty of grey is like a jewel showing this isn't a black and white world and the mirror image holds colour which is love. Deep within the jewel is the rubble found within us all. You asked for depth Chacha! Is this painted on board? What size is it? I really like too :)

i would say its about 11x13 give or take. its actually an old oval canvas i got on sale from a craft store a while back, and i wanted just the right piece to paint on it. so here it is. thanks for the depth, that was an awesome tidbit of insight! glad you like!

tell me bout it. i got to see alot of classics, they put on one hell of a show lemme tell you. right up there with 311 and dave, and we cant forget less than jake boy do they get everyone up and hitting! :)

Hey Hey! I absolutely love it! This is one of my new favorites. Can I be expecting this in the mail anytime soon ;) Maybe a series of black and whites, maybe as a gift for my birthday for my new place? ;) Great job ChaCha...see what happens when you work from scratch.

This reminds me of those dark and moody African masks that you see in museums and homes like mine. At first all I saw was an eye nose and mouth, but second look gives me the two people the city and the heart. Sorta like 'face your future and cherish your heart'. This would be an interesting magnet.

nice you have really started setting up some perspective here. your stuff is getting more depth.. the red heart really jumps out since everything else is not colored. nice touch.

im so glad you guys are giving the feedback that i hoped this piece would bring. and its an even better feeling when i meet the deadline and come out with something that turns out better than the sketch. thanks so much for the positive comments!! :) cant wait to see what this weeks topic will be. i better start cracking!
