Illofriday....depth....

so here it is. not too happy about the way it came out, because these pictures dont do it any justice, but i tried! i worked long and hard on this with acrylics and pastels, but when i sprayed the clear coat sealant over the top, it made it sooo much darker than i had hoped it would have. so much for trying to preserve my artwork. the bottom picture is the best one i could take to get the aura and the feel for it fitting the depth topic, but the top one is a better one of the darker colors around the edge and the really vibrant colors i used in the middle. there is a bit of a glare from the flash on the digital camera i used, because this was way too big for the scanner although that would have been the safest way to go. im still working on cleaning up photos in photoshop and getting a feel for using the digital to my artistic advantage, but it takes time. well anyways, here it is and i hope you guys can sort of see what it should look like. around the edges i used black, olive green, and a lighter brown color that i mixed up almost to look like a tree trunk. then in the middle i used pink, yellow, white, orange, and purple to make it as vibrant as possible. i had the idea in my head of showing artistically how people perceive each other. on the outside they can be very dark and drab almost a mysterious feel to them, but the deeper you look into the core or the more you get to know them, they are bright and full of life and energy that seems to just light up the whole entire room. i know there are plenty of people that just soley represent the middle part, but im sure they have their down days too. be ever so kind to leave me your comments on this one. i might just have to fool around with it on the computer and see if i can get a better view of it, but i wanted to make the deadline and earlier than thursday nite or early friday morning! enjoy.

i like it.
so its a picture of someones inner depth.
neato concept.

i know what you mean about how the fixative makes things look darker its almost like geting it wet, but it never dries!

you should definitly fool around with it in photoshop(adjust the levels), and maybe take it outside, and take a picture of it with natural sunlight on it(to avoid the flash spots) hopefully the colors are in there, they just need to be brought out. if not you can always paint on it, and work on the colors digitally.

anyways good luck, and good work!!

I opened this without knowing it was yours and went WOW! I REALLY like this one Chacha! Thanks for sharing 'depth' with us :)

If you do photograph again, do outside on a cloudy day. That will avoid reflection including any blue sky colour.

I like this...at first look, it actually made me think of some paintings I've seen about the "birth" of stars, but I like your explanation. It makes a lot of sense! I don't know how I missed your illos for roots and dreams, but I'll comment now...I love the sinuous, snakey leaves. They look like they're wiggling and waving in the blue pot! The shooting stars look almost art deco with their stylized trails. Nice stuff here, chacha:>

i like the top picture. the greater contrast seems to better illustrate the topic. enjoy your happy accident.

When I turn my head to the left, it looks remarkably like two eyes with an infinite vista of imaginations within them. Stare too deeply and either you will get a mind blowing vision of creativity, or you will fall in and be lost forever...

thanks for all the comments guys!! i was so afraid this one would be a flop between the clear coat over the top and the photos i took. im going to try again this weekend taking the photos outside. when i finished this one, i was pushing the deadline and it was pitch black nite time, so i couldnt try the outdoor lighting. thanks for the suggestions and hopefully ill get a good one to repost. thanks again!!

great concept for depth. its very rare for someone to allow others to see them for who they really are. but the moment they do, your perception of them changes forever. i once tried to show someone the deeper side of myself. that person told me to put my shirt back on because i was scaring the other customers. go figure.
